She was born in Seattle, Wash. and grew up in that city and on a farm in Stanwood, Wash. She and husband, Max, raised 3 children and ministered in churches in the United States, Nepal, and Canada. Susan has written poetry, articles, short stories, and now her first novel. The passion to write Jennifer's Journey came out of working with hurting families and wanting to encourage anyone desiring to befriend and help them.

Susan DeBeeson does a wonderful job of portraying the love and caring from friends, churches, and God that abused women need in order to heal from their childhood abuses, whether they are physical, emotional, or sexual abuses. She shows how a woman's heart must heal in order to break the chains of abuse and pain that are binding them. keeping them enslaved with a heart of unforgiveness, and holding them back from a fulfilling and rewarding life in Jesus Christ.The book built up to the suspenseful ending when Len came home once again but this time with a vengeance for Jen! This was where it was difficult to stop reading when I HAD to get some things accomplished in my real life.
I came across this book during the time when our ladies class at church was studying Beth Moore's Bible study series called Breaking Free!, which deals with some of the same topics. It was interesting how it all played out in my life. I am currently into the second book of the series, entitled Jennifer's Healing.
What an inspiring and captivating book from start to finish! Thank you, Susan DeBeeson!
